MISSING PIECE

“Missing Piece” is a geometrical vanish revelation of a playing card.

In effect, an envelope is set aside as a prediction.  The performer assembles 4 foam pieces to form a rectangle comprising 7 X 8 playing card backs.

He explains that a deck of playing cards has 52 playing cards, 2 Jokers and 2 advertisement cards, totalling 56 cards.

A deck of playing cards is introduced.  A spectator chooses a card, say, the 4 of diamonds.

The 4 foam pieces are dismantled and turned face up.  They show card indices, 2 Jokers and the 2 advertisement cards.  The spectator is told to try to reassemble the pieces.

When the 4 pieces are reassembled, a missing piece magically makes its appearance in the rectangle.  That missing piece contains the 4 of diamonds index.  It is the spectator’s chosen card.

The spectator is told to go through the deck face up.  Magically, her chosen 4 of diamonds is no longer in the deck.  Everything is an illusion.

Attention is drawn to the prediction envelope on the table.  Inside it is the spectator’s chosen card as well as a small foam piece depicting the 4 of diamonds to complete the rectangle.

The effect has a transposition, a prediction, and a mysterious vanish of a foam piece all rolled into one.  It is fun to perform and is self-working.

You receive all the necessary props in a nice black box.  A black velvet pouch is also provided to contain the foam piece, although the trailer indicates a draw-string bag.  There is a link to a 22-minutes video tutorial.  You will have to supply your own deck of playing cards.  Although the foam pieces depict red bicycle backs, you can use any red back playing cards.

The 4 foam pieces, when assembled, measures 3 inches X 3.75 inches.

In the tutorial, you are taught how to gimmick your playing cards to force the 4 of diamonds.  This also allows the spectator to turn over the deck face upwards and look through to find that the 4 of diamond is missing.

After you have assembled the 4 foam pieces to show 7 X 8 card back rectangle, and then turned them facing up, the spectator can reassemble the foam pieces herself.  She can also spread through the deck to find her chosen 4 of diamonds missing.  (Rated 4/5 stars)
