SUBMERSION 2.0 by Danny Case & Eric Ross

This is a one effect DVD.  It is not so much an effect as it is a “move” with a deck of playing cards.  This move is original and has several applications.

Two cards are inserted into the deck at one end, and are left protruding.  One card is inserted near the top of the deck while the other card is inserted near the bottom of the deck.  You can clearly see a stack of cards in the middle separating the 2 cards.  Magically, the bottom card starts to melt through the stack of cards in-between them and ends up underneath the top card.  The melt through is most visual, and everything is examinable.  The effect can be done with a borrowed deck and is impromptu.  It is also easy to execute.

The most obvious application is to have 2 cards selected by 2 spectators.  One is inserted three-quarters of its length into the deck near the top of the deck, while the other card is inserted near the bottom of the deck with one-quarter of its length left protruding out of the deck.  Magically, they melt through the stack of cards in-between them and come together side by side.

Alternatively, instead of a second spectator choosing a card, the performer can select a card, and his card melts through the deck and ends up next to the spectator’s selected card.

Eric Ross offers a beautiful variation called “Finder’s” Effect.  A card is selected by a spectator and lost in the deck.  2 Jokers are introduced and placed at separate parts of the deck.  They melt through the deck and trap the selected card.  The selected card can be signed.

Eric Ross performs and explains everything in the well produced DVD.  He also teaches a pass as well as a special sandwich move.  Submersion 2.0 is due to become a classic in card magic just like Roy Walton’s card warp.  (5/5 stars rating).
