You may get an idea from the name and graphics of this effect that it has got to do with drawings by children.
Here is the effect.
The performer shows 5 hand drawn back designs of a blue back playing card. 4 of them are turned over to show hand drawn pictures of the King of Diamonds, the Queen of Hearts, the Ace of Spades, and the 9 of Clubs.
The performer says that these are drawn by his kid and each of the 4 cards is meant for each of the 4 members of his family. His kid has also drawn the identity of a playing card for daddy’s performance. The face of this card is not shown for the time being. This card is placed face down aside.
The performer brings out a red back deck of cards. He spreads the cards face up and a spectator selects any one of them. This is a free choice. Let us assume she chooses the 7 of diamonds.
When the mystery card is turned over, it is a kid’s hand drawn picture of the 7 of diamonds, matching exactly the spectator’s chosen card.
You receive the gaffed deck of playing cards, the 5 prediction cards, and the envelope all contained in a very nice magnetic hard-shell box. You also get a link to a 51 minutes video tutorial by Nick Locapo.
Nick gives a thorough explanation of effect. There are lots of live performances, including one by Roddy McGhie himself. Nick shows how to clean up after the performance and reset, and explains how to adapt the gimmicked cards to suit the back design of any deck of playing cards that you are presently using provided they are poker size. The gaffed card supplied matches a red back bicycle card, although you do not need to provide your own deck of cards.
There is a move with cards that you need to execute. It is easy to do and is taught in the tutorial.
Nick also teaches a reverse effect of “Predicshuns” based on Paul Curry’s “Touch” trick. In this trick, a spectator freely selects a card from a deck of 52 kid’s hand drawn cards. This card matches exactly a stranger card taken from another deck of regular playing cards.
The sight of the hand drawn cards will always cause the spectators to smile, as they are so cute and beautiful. (Rated 5/5 stars.)
