THE YELLOW RIBBON PRISON RUN 2024

The Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) celebrates 20 years of championing second chances this year.  The YRP Run (YRPR) is a flagship event on its annual calendar.  The International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 115 is proud to have been a dedicated and long-standing Yellow Ribbon Prison Run supporter.

This year, 12 magicians from our ring participated in this important event held on 1 September 2024.  The YRPR strives to unite communities in Singapore, fostering an inclusive society where ex-offenders and their families are given opportunities to reintegrate successfully.

This year, the YRPR achieved several milestones, including its largest turnout of nearly 11,000 participants, and raised an impressive S$557,370 to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates and their families.

Our largest group of magicians, thus far, seemed to have made a significant impact at the event.  Five young and talented magicians joined us, showcasing their magic tricks at the finish line, much to the runners’ delight.

We also had ventriloquist Joseph Then and “Ah Boy” (puppet) join us in their maiden foray; we never enjoyed the company of a highly animated puppet in a close-up performance before.  This unique addition further enhanced the event.  It was another record-breaking moment for us.

Many participants experienced intimate walkaround magic for the first time, which added an element of surprise and wonder to their event experience and enhanced the festive and celebratory atmosphere at the endpoint carnival.

Above all, our magicians brought a wave of joy, fun, and lasting memories to many of the attendees, contributing significantly to the overall success of the event and leaving everyone with a sense of entertainment and upliftment.

Thomas Yeo reflected that we have brought the participants much happiness and fond memories.  Carson Goh highlighted that he shared his esoteric perspective of life with three shoelaces, and most audiences agreed with him.  Some even vowed to take action in their lives.

It is such a powerful testimony.  We are deeply grateful to all the magicians who generously volunteered their time and energy to bring wonder and joy to the participants.

Their contributions have made a significant impact on the success of the event.  We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) for their continuous support and this wonderful partnership, whose support has made our ring and its members feel appreciated and valued.
