The square circle illusion in magic is to make things appear from empty continers.  George Iglesias’ “Vending Machine” is a lovely application of the square circle illusion to make small items appear from a miniature vending machine.

In effect, the performer shows 2 empty sleeves designed to look like a vending machine and the inside of a vending machine respectively.

A spectator selects an item from a dozen different cards.  The 2 sleeves of the vending machines are shown to be empty.  They are then put together again like a vending machine.  When a credit card is made to touch the vending machine, the selected item, for example, a can of Pringles, appear from the empty vending machine.

You receive everything complete to assemble and perform.  The vending machine comes folded flat for easy transportation.  There are 3 pieces that comprise the vending machine, the outer sleeve, the inner sleeve, the inside gimmick, a base for the inside gimmick and a flap for the top of the outermost sleeve.  You also receive 20 cards: 14 commercial product cards such as Pringles, Oreos, Coca Cola, etc.  5 blank cards for you to print your own commercial product items, and a special Magic Bank credit card.

You also receive a link to a 36 minutes video tutorial where George Iglesias takes you through step by step on what you received, how to assemble the vending machine, and how to perform the effect.

The vending machine is made from very durable paper.  When assembled, it measures 11.5 inches tall, 5.9 inches wide and 3.9 inches deep.  2 extra pieces are provided.  They are for you to decide if you wish to use them.  One is to form a base for the inside gimmick, and the other is to form a flap for the outer sleeve.

Although it is recommended for performance for children, there is no reason why it cannot be performed for adults.

The main advantage of the vending machine illusion is that it can be packed flat for easy transportaiton, and can be easily reassembled on site.  (Rated 5/5 stars)
