This product first appeared in the market about 10 years ago, but in a slightly different effect. It was, and still is, Jeremy Pei’s favourite packet card trick. Jeremy commences most of his close-up or walk-around magic with this effect.
The performer shows 4 identical cards that have blue backs. They are all face downwards. One card is now turned over face up. Immediately, all the other 3 cards magically turn over face upwards. One card is turned face downwards, and all the other cards turn face downwards. This can be continued infinitum.
One card is placed face downwards on the table. The remaining 3 cards turn face upwards one at a time. One card is placed face upwards on the table. The remaining 2 cards turn face downwards one at a time.
Finally, 2 cards are turned over to show that each of their faces are completely different from the original 4 cards. The other 2 cards are turned over to show that they now have different back designs.
All these changes are shown to be just an illusion! The 4 cards are gathered together and shown to be exactly what they are at the start of the performance: 4 identical cards with blue backs!
So much magic happens with just 4 cards. No wonder it is Jeremy’s favourite packet card trick! The cards can be reset fairly quickly, and is suitable for walk-around performance.
The product comes with the necessary cards made in Bicycle stock, and an instructional DVD. The DVD is well produced and Jeremy’s explanation of the trick is easy to follow.
In the DVD, Jeremy also explains a bonus effect that is a variation of the Ultimate Backflip. It begins in the same way as the original trick with 4 identical blue back cards. The cards turn face up and then face down magically. Finally all their faces vanished altogether and 4 blank blue back cards are shown. Jeremy uses this effect for corporate clients as their company logo can be printed on the blank cards. He has a nice patter about the company being a leader in the industry. The cards necessary for this effect can be easily obtained from any magic dealer.
If you like packet card tricks, the Ultimate Backflip comes highly recommended
