A good magical effect is one that has a good story to tell, so that it has an emotional hook on the audience. A good trick to perform for a lady is to produce a rose for her.
“The Mystic Rose” has both an interesting story as well as a surprise appearance of a rose from an empty container.
In effect, the performer invites a lady to assist him. He shows the lady a tall yellow pyramid shape cardboard container that contains hieroglyphic symbols. He unfolds the container and show that there is nothing side except the black colour interior. The container is closed and given to the lady to hold.
3 long envelopes are next shown to the lady and the performer asks the lady to select one. This envelope is opened and shown to contain a red colour card with some descriptions of emotions attributed to the colour red printed on the card.
The 2 other envelopes not chosen are opened one at a time to show that there is a black card with emotions attached to the colour black, and a yellow card with appropriated emotions attributed to the colour yellow.
The performer takes the pyramid container from the lady. Mysteriously, a stalk of red roses rises from the inside of the container.
You receive everything necessary to perform this effect. The pyramid container comes unfolded and flat. It is an easy task to fold it to form the pyramid container. Instructions are in the form of a 12 minutes tutorial DVD. The instructions are in the Spanish language but there is a voice-over in the English language.
The effect is based on a popular mentalism principle in enabling the spectator to choose the red card, on a general magic principle in showing a folded container empty and then producing something from it, and causing the stalk of rose to mysteriously rise from the container. It is relatively easy to do effect.
“The Mystic Rose” has a great story line, great mystery and is colourful. (Rated 4.5/5 stars)
