SUPER SHARPIE

The “Super Sharpie” is a sharpie pen that allows you to secretly arm yourself with a thumb writer.

Here is how you can use it.  You bring out a sharpie, uncap it and use it to write something on a notepad or a piece of paper to show to your audience.

When it comes time for you to make a prediction, you write your prediction with the sharpie on the notepad without showing it to the audience.  The sharpie is placed down on the table.  You ask a spectator to freely name a 2-digit number.  You turn your notepad around and show everyone that you have written the exact 2-digit number announced by the spectator.  You pick up the sharpie from the table, cap the pen, and put it away.

You start clean, and end clean.  You hands are empty when you start and your hands are empty again when you end.  There is no need for you to secretly go to your pocket to get your writer on your thumb, and then ditch it later in the packet.

You receive the special sharpie and a little something that enables you to attached the writer to your thumb.  You are also given a link to a 2-page pdf instructions as well as a 27 minutes video tutorial.  The video features the following performers: MagicSmith, Oz Pearlsman and Manny Vasquez.  Each of them has a different method of using the Super Sharpie.

The sharpie is the regular sharpie that anyone can purchase from the stationery store.  The writer is very cleverly built in the sharpie.  The spectators can use the same sharpie to write a message and they will never suspect anything unsual about the pen.

The main advantages of Super Sharpie are:

  • The writer allows you to write in ink, not in pencil as in the case of most of the thumb writer. The ink is the same as that in the sharpie you use.  Your prediction is dark legible to the spectators.  I have always wondered why people still use pencils to write a prediction.
  • RefilIing both the secret writer as well as the sharpie pen itself is easy, and uses the ink inside a regular sharpie. If you look after your sharpie well, it will literally last forever.

However, as with all other thumb writers, you have to practise getting the writer from and then ditching it back onto the sharpie.  (Rated 5/5 stars)
