“Stretching Queen” is a modified version of Peter Kane’s “The Elongated Lady” from 1982.
In effect, the performer talks about big magic shows in Las Vegas where a magician does fantastic things to his lovely lady assistant. She gets sawn in halves, stretched or transformed into an animal. The performer wants to show one such effect by using a deck of playing cards.
He takes out the Queen of Hearts to represent the lady assistant and 2 black nines, the nine of spades and the nine of clubs.
He places the Queen face up between the 2 face down nines. He then proceeds to stretch the Queen until it is about twice its original size. He shrinks the Queen back to its original size. The 3 cards are shown backs and fronts and the audience is none the wiser how the illusion of stretching the Queen is accomplished.
You receive 2 specially printed cards and a link to a 10 minutes video tutorial. Only one of these cards is used in a actual performance. The other one is to be used as a spare. You will need to supply your own Queen of Hearts with blue bicycle back, and the other black nine: the nine of clubs.
The video is most interesting. It starts with Jon Racherbaumer singing praises for “The Stretching Queen”. It then shows a performance of “The Stretching Queen” followed by the explanations. It concludes with a 1980 archival video footage of Frank Garcia performing the stretching card. In this case, Frank stretches the King of Spades instead of a Queen.
In the video, you are taught how to show both the faces and backs of all 3 cards, and almost the entire face of the stretched Queen of Hearts.
There are many versions of stretching card. Most of them are heavily gimmicked. This is a most direct and convincing method of performing the stretching card. (Rated 5/5 stars)
