SPIRIT NAME TAG by Axel Vergnaud & TCC Magic

“Spirit Name Tag” is a miniature and modernised version of “Spirit Slates”. “Spirit Slates” is the generic name given to magic tricks performed by magicians using a pair of the old fashioned chalk slates used in schools of yesteryears. To justify the use of such archaic objects, magicians claim that there is magic in out-of-date props. The reality is that not only is the size of the slates that makes them suitable for performances, the use of 2 slates placed face-to-face covers a diabolical secret that makes spirit writing possible. Axel Vergnaud and TCC Magic have brought the spirit slates into modern times by using name tags for keys. Unfortunately, because they are only 2 inches X 1.5 inches in dimensions, they are more suitable for close-up performances than for parlour or stage, although with some modification in presentation, they can be used for even stage performances.

You receive the 2 nicely made name tags, a key ring, the special gimmick, and a special something to reset the gimmick. You also get a link to a 33 minutes video tutorial. Although the 2 name tags are made of whiteboard materials, you are recommended to use a permanent marker instead of the washable whiteboard marker to write on the tags. The reason for this is mentioned in the video, as is also the method to erase the permanent ink after performances. Almost everything that you can do with the spirit slates can be done with these name tags, although on a much diminished scale. In the video, the various applications are discussed: spirit writing, righting a wrong message, appearance of a torn piece of paper or playing card within the 2 tags, and Al Koran’s “Golden Medallion” prediction effect using only one name tag.

If you enjoy performing spirit slate effects, “Spirit Name Tag” allows you to perform them using an everyday object. (Rated 4.4/5 stars)
