The performer divides a deck of cards into 2 halves. These are not playing cards. From the first half of the deck, he deals out 4 cards, each one has a picture depicting one of the seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. A spectator is asked to choose one of the 4 seasons. For example, the spectator chooses autumn.
From the second half of the deck, the performers deals out 4 cards, each card has a picture depicting one of the 4 activities: shopping, traveling overseas, spending time together with a loved one, and spending time alone reading a book. Again, the spectators chooses one of these acitivies. For example, she chooses to spend time with her loved one.
The 2 portions of the deck are assembled together and spread face up on the table.
The spread reveals the chosen season autumn and the selected activity spending time with a loved one!
You receive the special deck of cards, and a link to a 5 minutes video tutorial conducted by Juyong of JL Magic. The language is Korean. However, from the video, it is not difficult to figure out how the effect is accomplished.
There are a total of 4 times 4 or 16 different combinations of a chosen season and a chosen activity. Hence the title of the effect “One Of Sixteen”.
To see both the selected season and activity displayed on the entire spread of the cards makes for a novel revelation. It is a mentalsim effect using a novelty deck of cards.
The effect is relatively easy to perform once you understand how the 2 haves of the deck of cards work. There is even a crib to help you if you choose not to memorise. (Rated 4.5/5 stars)
