NAILED!

The title suggests that this is going to be a props-heavy card trick as it involves nailing a (chosen) card onto a table or a wooden surface.  You will need a hammer, a nail and a piece of wood.  If this is so, it will be a dramatic card trick as it reqires hammering a solid nail through a playing card onto a piece of wood.

The premise of the trick remains the same, so it will give you the dramatic effect of a card trick.  However, the props are reduced to only a photograph inside a transparent sleeve.  Here is the effect.

The performer meets a spectator and asks for her name.  Uponing hearing her name, the performer says he dreamt about her one week ago.  He dreamt that he was performing a card trick for her and he nailed her chosen card onto a wooden table.  The dream was so real that he took a playing card and actually nailed it onto his wooden work-bench.  Then he took a photograph of it.

The performer takes out this photograph inside a transparent sleeve.  The card nailed was the 4 of diamonds.  The photograph was taken out of the sleeve and placed face down on the table.  The spectator is asked to watch over it.

The performer brings out a deck of cards and has the spectator choose one card.  Her card turns out to be, not the 4 of diamonds, but the king of clubs.  The performer places her king of clubs underneath the face down photograph and makes a magical gesture.  When this card is turned over, it has transformed into the 4 of diamonds, complete with a nail hole in the middle of the card!  The photograph is turned over.  It now shows a nail driven through the king of clubs onto a wooden surface!  Everything can be examined.

You receive the special photgraph of the nailed card, placed inside a transparent sleeve, an additional transparent sleeve, and an actual 4 of diamonds card with a nail hole in the middle of the card, and a 48 minutes tutorial DVD.  I suppose the newer version will dispense with the DVD and provide the video tutotial online.

The video tutotial is 48 minutes long.  Jay Sankey takes you through the performance and explanations of the effect.  He also provides numerous methods of forcing a card and different methods of transforming and revealing the nailed card.

When you meet someone for the first time and say that this person appeared in your dream some time ago, it gives a surreal feeling to this specctator.

The gimmicked photograph and the sleeve are very well made to allow an unexplanable transformation of the nailed card in the photograph.  The effect can be performed with a borrowed deck of cards.  After the performance, everything can be left for examination.  (Rated 5/5 stars)
