Brian Caswell has established himself as a clever inventor of mentalism effects, when his 2 tricks “Cataclysm” and “Trilogy” took the magic world by storm.
“Inevitable” is another one of his very clever mentalism effects.
A deck of blank face playing cards is given to a spectator to examine. 6 specially printed cards, comprising a pair of square symbols, a pair of circle symbols and a pair of cross symbols are also given out for examination.
A spectator is given a set of 3 different symbol cards, niz the square, the circle and the cross. The performer has the other 3 different symbol cards. He spreads the deck faces towards himself and inserts each of the 3 symbol cards at different locations in the deck.
The performer then deals cards onto the table and the spectator inserts each of her 3 cards at 3 different locations of her choice in the deck. The deck is then spread face upwards on the table. It is seen that the spectator has inserted each of her 3 cards exactly next to each of the performer’s 3 cards that were placed earlier in the different locations in the deck. Upon closer examination, the spectator has inserted her square symbol card next to the square symbol card of the performer, her circle symbol card next to the circle symbol card of the performer, and her cross symbol card next to the cross symbol card of the performer.
Those who are familiar with the “Gemini force” will be surprised that this is a pairing of not 2, but 3 cards. There is another important difference. The “Gemini force” requires that the card be inserted face up into a face down deck. Astute members of the audience can notice a slight discrepency in the card selected in this manner. But in this effect where each pair of cards is found facing the same direction, the application of the Gemini force is cleverly concealed.
You receive an instructional DVD and a set of 3 pairs of specially printed ESP symbol cards in red bicycle backs. You will have to supply your own red back deck of bicycle blank cards. If you do not want to use blank face cards, you can use your deck of ordinary red back bicycle cards. Nothing is gimmicked, and everything can be freely examined at the end of the performance.
With blank face cards and a marker, you can create your own matching sets of cards, for example, 3 pairs of world famous fictional lovers.
