CHIP READER

The progressive anagram and fishing are 2 of the methods of mind reading that allow a spectator to apparently have a wide choice of items.  However, there is one drawback.  The performer will only know which object is being chosen when the spectator gives a “no” answer.

“Chip Reader” is Dave Forrest’s attempt to eliminate this downside.

5 poker chips from 5 different casinos are shown to a spectator.  The chips are put inside a velvet bag and mixed thoroughy.  The spectator takes one chip out of the bag, closes the bag and put the bag to one side.  The selected chip is held in the spectator’s hand.  The performer’s head is turned away during this time.

The performer then turns his head around to face the spectator.  The spectator is merely asked to project the name of the selected chip mentally to the performer.  The performer is able to divine the details of the seected poker chip.

It appears to be pure mind reading.  The performer really does not know what chip is being chosen by the spectator.  It is that clean.

You receive the 5 poker chips and a velvet carrying bag.  The chips are made of ceramic and the designs on it are silk-screened onto the chips.  You also receive a link to a 41 minutes video tutorial where Dave Forrest takes you through how to perform the effect.

The chips are beautifully produced and are the same design on both sides.  You need to understand and know a script in order to perform the effect.  But it is not difficult at all.

Once you are proficient in this, you may want to purchase the expansion pack which gives you 2 more colourful and different poker chips to add to the present 3 chips.  They are available at $20 for the 2 extra chips.  This comes with a short 8.5 minutes of video tutorial.  It is assumed that you already know how to perform the original effect with the 5 chips.

A 7 chip set makes it a very impressive mind reading effect.  (Rated 5/5 stars)
