Brain Drain can be considered as a special “Invisible Deck” where there are no cards stuck together, face-to-face or back-to-back.
When any card in a deck is named, the Brain Drain deck allows you to spread the deck face upwards and the spectator can see every one of the 52 cards. So everything looks fair. The thought-of card is removed from the deck face upwards.
The deck is turned over face downwards and fan-spread to show that the cards are blue backs. The chosen card is turned over to show that it is the only card with a red back. The handling is very clean.
This is the basic routine, and it looks good. In addition to this effect, you can of course, perform the Invisible Deck routine, which is also taught. Also explained is the Omni-Deck finish where the entire deck, except the chosen card, turns into a transparent block of clear plastic.
You receive the special Brain Drain deck and a well produced DVD with Russ Stevens performing and explaining everything. The Omni-Deck is not included in the package, but you are told where you can purchase one.
The DVD also contains a bonus sections with Martin Sanderson performing and explaining his wonderful Ambitious Card routine with the Omni-Deck finish. This is taken from his “Corporate Close-Up” DVD, also produced and distributed by RSVP Magic. Other than the Omni-Deck climax, there is no reason why this bonus section is included in the package, as it does not feature the Brain Drain deck. However, this is a true bonus to purchasers of Brain Drain because this is such a wonderful routine to learn. You will also learn Martin Sanderson’s handlings of the double-lift. This is yet another extra to the bonus!
You get the Brain Drain deck plus bonus – certainly value for money! (5/5 stars rating)
