At our April meeting, the following new members passed their Induction Tests and became Full Members:
- Yu Xiang Zhi
- Herman Yeo
- Jackson Lim
Congratulations to them! We welcome them into our club and look forward to more of their magic.
President, John Teo (ably assisted by Alvin Tan) awarded each of them a wooden magic wand as part of their Induction Ceremony. The breaking – literally – of the wooden magic wand at the funeral of a deceased magician is symbolic. It signifies the passing of one of our ‘siblings’ in the Brotherhood. Thus, the term ‘Broken Wand’ came to pass.
As part of joining the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) Ring 115 (Singapore), newly-sponsored members have to pass a qualifying test within six months of approval. The incumbent can choose any branch of magic to perform. We suggest that they perform their preferred branch of magic, and with material that they are most confident in.
Two members, in good standing with IBM International, can sponsor a potential member. A jury of committee members will evaluate the 10-minute performance by the Associate Member during our monthly meeting.
