David Berglas’ performance of ACAAN, any card at any number, way back in the 1950s had sparked off countless versions of this effect. It is known as the Holy Grail of magic. Many magicians have tried to be as direct as David Berglas in performing ACAAN.

David Berglas asked a spectator to freely name a playing card. Another spectator was asked to name any number between 1 and 52. The deck of cards was visible all the time on the table. David Berglas picked up the deck and dealt to the named number, only to find the named card at this number.

“Affected By Berglas” is Marc Paul’s attempt at duplicating this effect.

A deck of cards is fanned and a spectator is asked to name any card he sees. Another spectator is asked to name any number between 1 and 52. The deck of cards is handed to a third spectator, who deals down to the named number and finds the named card at that number.
