As the title suggests, the “Trinity Book Test” allows you to perform 3 different book effects using the same book.
The 3 effects are:
- Predict the first word on any chosen page (prediction);
- Read the mind of a spectator and name a freely chosen long word (mind-reading);
- Perform the Peguses Page trick where a selected page is later found torn from the book and then re-appeared in another location (teleportation).
These 3 effects would normally need at least 2 different set of gimmicked books. The reason this one book can accomplish all the 3 effects is that it is very cleverly gimmicked. This special priciple was first used by Steve Gore in his own book test “Book To The Future”.
You receive the book inside a very beautifully designed casing.
The book features George Orwell’s popular novella, “Animal Farm”. It comes with a small dust cover which plays an important part in the gimmicking of the book.
You also receive a link to a 44 minutes video tutroial conducted by Alex Latorre himself.
The book test is best performed with 3 different members of the audience. After showing that the book has different page numbers and that it is different in different pages, the first spectator flips to any page and notes the first word on that page. This word is predicted in advance by the performer.
The second spectator flips to any page and freely selects a long word from the second paragraph. The performer is able to read the mind of the spectator and name this word.
The third spectator freely flips to any page and notes the page number, say, page 54. A little later, this page is found missing (torn). The mising page is found in an envelope given earlier to another spectator for safe keeping. This page matches exactly the torn part in the book.
Since there are 3 distinct effects, Alex Latorre wants to distinguish all the 3 tricks. The first effect is a prediction, the second effect is mind-reading, and the third effect is a teleportation trick.
As for the third effect, Alex suggests an interesting alternative. A $20 bill is shown and folded and placed inside a small envelope. It is for the spectator to keep if the performer is unsuccessful in his performance. When the chosen page is found missing, the envelope and its content is given to the spectator as a reward. The spectator finds that the $20 bill shown earlier has transformed into the missing page.
A straight-forward book test with 3 distinct effects. (Rated 5/5 stars)
