RUNIC

A rune is a letter in the runic alphabet, native to the Germanic people.  A rune stone is a stone with a runic carved into it.  Instead of a stone, a wooden disc can be used.  The rune stones are used for fortune telling, casting spells and providing protection.

In effect, the performer takes from a fabric bag a handful of different runic wooden discs and a piece of prediction card.  The prediction card is placed aside face downwards on the table.

A spectator takes the runic stones into her 2 cupped hands and shakes to mix them.  She then throws the runic stones onto the table.  Those that land face down are eliminated.  She picks up those stones that are face up and once again mixes them in her 2 cupped hands before throwing them onto the table.  She continues to do this until only one runic stone is left face upwards.  This is deemed to be the selected runic stone.

When the prediction is turned over, it states exactly what runic stone will be left face upwards, and a short meaning of this runic symbol.

For example, the prediction is the “Wunjo” rune, and can be in the format as shown in the diagram here.  You can find the meaning of the various runes in the internet.

You receive 10 runic wooden discs, the fabric bag and a 15-minute video tutorial where Liam Montier takes you through how to perform the effect.  You have to make your own prediction card.

The effect is based on a simple, well known, but effective principle in magic.  When it is used with an unique magical prop such as the rune stones, the principle becomes pretty much disguised.

In the video tutorial, Liam shows you how you can repeat this experiment with a different rune outcome.

This product is highly recommended for the following reasons:

  • It uses beautiful and interesting props – the rune stones.
  • It evokes the spectator’s feeling because the chosen rune stone has a positive meaning for the spectator.
  • Everything is carried out by the spectator.
  • The effect can be repeated with a different result.
